Out of stock

Saffron corms (a bulb like structure) are expected to arrive by Tuesday, September 13.  Please pick them up at Basil & Rose within two weeks of arrival. This is in store pick up only – no shipping. Include your contact information with your order so I can let you know when they arrive. I will also be posting to the Facebook page and Instagram for Basil & Rose when the saffron are in. The price is per corm so you may purchase as many or as few as you wish.

Plant saffron as soon as possible after your receive them. Plant about 3″ deep, 3″ apart in sun or part shade. Do not plant in an area that stays damp. If you plant them soon after you pick them up they are more likely to bloom this fall.

Saffron is a beautiful fall blooming crocus hardy to zone 6. The leaves will remain until around the following May when it gets hot. Then the next fall they will bloom again. Harvest the dark orange red stigmas for cooking. I dry them on a towel and then store in a small jar so there is little air space. Over time the corms will multiply so in a few years dig them up and separate them.
